While driving back to Dublin from Galway this morning, I detoured to the town of Clara in County Offaly. It’s about 12 KM south of the highway and very easy to find.

Clara was where a number of Goodbodys lived. The old Quaker meeting house is still there. Behind it is a family cemetery with about 50 Goodbodys buried. It’s interesting to see many familiar names on the headstones – including a couple named Mary and Harold (my grandparents’ names).
